My Branded Life – Logos, brands & Consumerism (3 pages + key - editable)
How much are our lives affected by brands and logos? How many brands do we deal with every day? I was inspired by an email a friend sent me with a similar timetable (picture file). The students follow different steps in this activity:
1. they analyse the timetable and its logos;
2. they complete a table with the brands and identify the products;
3. speaking activity – discussion about brands and consumerism;
4. they build their own timetable with the logos/brands they were in touch with the previous day;
5. they swap timetables and guess their partner’s brands & products.
I used these two handouts with my 11th grade students yesterday and they were thrilled about them! I can’t wait to see their timetables which they are going to build as homework. I gave them a week to accomplish the task.
Some of the brands are Portuguese, so you might not recognise them (check the key) but you can edit the worksheet and replace them with brands your students will know.
