Word Family Activity
Directions
Students can do this whole group or small group. Students cut out letters & pictures ahead of time. Students spread out letters tiles across the top of the worksheet & the pictures on the side of their worksheet. In time students will be able to do on their own in a center.
1. Students pick a picture, say the name of the picture like ŌcatÓ. They can sound the word out on their arm. Beginning sound- top of arm, middle sound- elbow, ending sound- wrist (beginning blends are used as one sound)
2. Students decide what the beginning sound is & then if itÕs a at or am word.
3. Glue the beginning sound in front of the correct word family & the picture in the space next to it.
