Go fish/happy families game for animals
This game can be used to practice animal vocabulary as well as questions. Each of the 12 sets consists of four cards with the male, female, baby, and the name for the meat from that animal. Print on thick cardboard so the front side canīt be seen.
Directions: Shuffle cards and pass out 5 cards to each player (you can pass out a few more or less depending on your preference, and you can take away sets to make it easier/faster. The rest of the cards go face down in the middle. Now one player starts by asking for a card they donīt already have: "[name], do you have [the male/the female/the baby/the meat from + animal]?". If the person has the card, they must say "yes, I have the [animal name]" and hand over the card. Example: "John, do you have the baby sheep?" - "Yes, I have the lamb". The player then gets to ask again. If the other player doesnīt have the card, they must say "No I donīt, go fish", and the first player then takes a card from the middle and their turn is over. Once a player has all four cards from a set, they put that set down in front of them. If a player is out of cards, they get 5 new ones from the middle. Game continues until all sets are complete. The player with the most sets wins.
You can only ask for cards if you have at least 1 from that set already!
You can practice harder questions too, for example "Do you know what a baby sheep is called?" - "Yes, I do. Itīs called a lamb".
