Food Flavors and Temperatures
This is a helpful worksheet for elementary students learning to describe tastes after learning some basic food vocabulary. I picked a few different foods with different flavors and elicited the vocab (salty, sweet, etc.) from students when possible. Then, the students each got a copy of the worksheet. After coming up with a few examples as a whole class, students worked together in pairs to brainstorm different foods, categorizing them by flavor. Then the whole class came together and shared the different foods they came up with in pairs. Finally, we went through the different food temperatures together, and drilled for pronunciation for some of the tougher words, like "lukewarm" and "temperature."
At the end of the lesson, students have a really nice study guide to take home with them, both for food and flavor vocabulary!
