Making a sandwich
This is lesson I prepared for my beginner primary school ESL class recently. It is based around the activity of making a helathy lunch. First we discussed common lunches in their countries and the importance of a balanced meal. The students then used a picture dictionary to identify the food and equipment needed to make the lunch. Next they cut out and sequenced the steps. We then made the sandwiches together and completed a simple evaluation. The last page was given for homework so students could write about the activity. It was a lot of preperation to buy and cut up the food, boil the eggs, clean up, etc. but it was really fun and the students tried a typical and healthy Australian lunch. You could easily change the food to suit what you prefer in a sandwich. To simplify you could just have one choice of protein but I have a muslim and a vegetarian in my class so I wanted 3 options.
