Fruit Salad - a song-based activity card for pairwork/ groupwork
The worksheet contains six stanza-plus-chorus lyric sets. After the appropriate vocab. is presented, practised and used in a story (as this song is to accompany a storytelling session both for school children, even slightly older ones, such as 10-year-olds; and for the little ones hospitalized in the local paediatric ward) it is time for a song. The group should be divided into six teams (or six pairs, depending on the group size). You stick each set of lyrics on the wall, ensuring kids have enough space to move freely all over the classroom and do not bump into each other. Then arrange a running dictation: they try to copy the assigned portion of lyrics together and take turns coming to the wall, memorizing the text and writing it into their notebooks at the desk. After the first team is ready you can choose whether to continue or not. And now itīs time to sing. Try the new lyrics to the popular kids tune of "Hokey Cokey" :) and have fun!
