Speed Dating
Speed Dating.
Target To get students speaking more confidently and asking questions about personality, life experiences and occupations.
This works well for an Intermediate to advanced class.
Many people of different nationalities may be unfamiliar with the concept of speed dating so first you will need to explain this.
I give each student a character and give them time to study and prepaid questions or answers about their character.
When the rollpaly starts they will have 3 minutes to speak to each person. So they can practice introductions, asking about each other and various questions to find out information about personality.
After 3 minutes the students on one side move to the next table and talk with another student. When students have all spoken to each other I ask them to vote secretly which character they would like to date and see if we get a match.
As I teach Asian students it is much easier to give them a character as they can be a bit shy. I would use this late in the term when students allready know each other and feel more comfortable.
All pictures were freely available on the internet and this activity is easily adapted to you class all the information can be changed.
