Situational cliches (Advanced Vocabulary) Situational cliches (Advanced Vocabulary)

- An amazing compilation of super useful idioms people typically use in certain situations. Can certainly be used as something cool and handy when teaching an Advanced class to break the monotony of using the course book since the latter tend to be pretty heavy on text at Advanced levels and lack a certain zing like that :) - Can be followed-up by various activities like: - guessing/ evoking the idiom upon initials (Dig in! = D.i.!) or even pictures (I tried this one - works really well) - Making up a situation and ask them to say an appropriate idiom for that situation - Asking them to make up their own situation (in groups this can be a mingling activity - each student has an idiom written at the top of his sheet of paper and has to move around the classroom asking his classmates to make up a situation in which saying this would be appropriate, and in turn making up situations for each of the idioms on his classmatesī worksheets)
