25 Common Sayings (idioms)
Hi all, here is a worksheet I put together based on a Youtube video I found(link is included). It is also possible to use the worksheet without the video. It covers 25 idiomatic expressions used in English. I have put the expressions into sentences that students have to try and translate into L1(native language)without any help on their meaning. They then watch the video that describes the origin of the expressions (a couple are a little controversial as to their authenticity). The expressions get discussed in class and then students translate the sentences again. Lastly, the translations are compared and talked about. This lesson should be FUN, studentīs attempts at guessing the meaning of things like "buttering someone up" should bring some laughter into the classroom. Hope you can use it, Douglas
