Comprehension questions on three New Yorker short stories: (1) A Childrens Story by Weike Wang, (2) My Cheesecake-Shaped Poverty by Harukami, and (3) Ayşegül Savaşï¿½ Freedom to Move. Individually, assign these stories to students and ask students to go to Wikipedia to find more information about the authors. In class, divide the students into pairs or small groups and ask them to retell the story they have been assigned. Next, divide the questions among each pair/small group and tell students to read and answer the questions. Toward the end of class, the teacher collects the questions and asks individual students to answer them.
