Helping Students Write a Description of a Picture - Guided Writing
I have used this worksheet with great success in my classes. The students really enjoy using this guided writing format. I have a collection of pictures that I have saved from magazines that are colorful, with action and great scenery. I use these pictures as a prompt for paragraph writing. First, the students make notes about the picture in the circles that are on the worksheet I make suggestions when they return the worksheets to me. The students then write a paragraph using their notes, the picture and my recommendations. They then submit their paragraphs for further feedback. It is really worth it. Student writing has improved and they enjoy describing their pictures. You can use the results of their writing to give them additional vocabulary about clothing, scenery, emotions etc.
