Lead-in: students listen to an evocative piece by Samuel Barber (Adagio for Strings) and choose the words they associate which in turn they will find in the poem. They listen to the poem and fill in a glossary. They check understanding by choosing pictures, doing a multiple choice exercise and answer comprehension questions. In the production part they can choose their task and work in groups. I used this as an introduction to the extensive reading they had to do in their own language.
