My family and other animals (Reading)
This activity is thought to be done into the English classroom although pupils can also work autonomously at home except the listening.
The book is an adaptation of the original by the British naturalist Gerald Durrell ; it is for pupils of 14, 15 years old depending on their level of English.
In this book the author tells his own adventures with his family in a Greek island, Corfú, some years before the Second World War. The author shows his passion for nature and the contact with people who are very different to him and his family.
Pupils can learn vocabulary, they can also learn some details about the Durells as the book is autobiographic and shows some aspects of their lives. Finally there is also a listening by which students should get used to listening the Cds at the same time they are reading this kind of books to learn new words in a more complete way.
