Weather Frequency Activity
Each group of students selects a country and lists its typical types of weather. (e.g. Africa – hot, dry, not much rain). Students imagine how many times it will be rainy, snowy, or hot during 10 days in their country and rank the weather terms in number of times. Move terms to the frequency diagram i.e. a vertical list of adverbs of frequency with the most frequent at the top and the least frequent at the bottom, e.g. “never”, “almost never”, “hardly ever”, “sometimes”, “often”, “very often”, “usually” and “always” from bottom to top. At this time, the teacher helps students with unfamiliar adverbs as necessary.
