TED Talks Al Gore: A Case For Optimism (Climate Change) Running Time 25 Mins 20 Seconds
A very informative Al Gore video video on climate change. This time around he adds some positive notes towards the end.
These are the steps I take when do a video lesson.
1)Informally introduce the topic. Ask the students what information they know about climate change. Is it a hoax or not?
2)Explain to the students that they are going to watch a video about climate change, and that they have to circle the correct answer.
3)Go through and pre-read the questions if necessary before playing the video.
4)Depending on the level of the students you can either put the English subtitles up or not. Generally I will play it once without any subtitles and let the students absorb the information that they have just watched. If the class requires me to play it again with subtitles on I readily do. It all depends how old your students are and what their English ability is. This is a 25 minute 20 second video so ou may be only able to play it once, depending on how long your lessons are.
5)Lastly, check the answers with your students individually and go through any vocabulary that they found difficult. It is a wonderful lesson to keep the students engaged and interested in English. I hope that your students have a much a good time watching it as mine did.
