DATES DEBATE CARDS
Teacher should make a copy of the set of cards for each group. Students put the deck of cards facing down on the table. There should be 4 members in each group (two will defend the statement, and two will contradict it). Students should take one of the cards and flip a coin. Whether they have to agree or disagree is in the card. They take 1 minute to prepare they argument and then start the discussion. The discussion with each card should go on for about 3 minutes.
**This activity has worked well for me as a unit opener and as a very effective conversation starter**
