Tex Avery Cartoon - Cuckoo Clock
This Tex Avery cartoon has little dialogue, but can be used to focus on clauses with “after” + gerund.
It is easily available on the Internet, including
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W24mULoKR34>
Present the vocabulary that will new or troublesome for your students.
After showing the cartoon to your students once, hand out an envelope with the 25 sentences cut up into slips, and ask them to work in pairs placing the sentences narrating the story in correct order. (Hint: print the sentences out on different colored paper so that if any of the slips get mixed up, it is very easy to place them with the correct set!)
Show the cartoon one or 2 more times to allow them to get everything right.
For homework, you could assign them some exercises focusing on clauses with “after” + gerund.
