MAMMA MIA! SO MANY SOUNDS Phonetics Lesson Plan & Worksheets (12 pages, key included)
This lesson focuses on the recognition and distinction of minimal pairs vowels and diphthongs in particular.
I created this lesson pack as part of my final project for the ESL teacher training sessions I attended from last October to December. These training sessions were focused on pronunciation and speaking skills.
Some of the activities presented here, namely the Noughts and Crosses game, have been inspired and adapted from the free ESL resource available at http://www.onestopenglish.com/section.asp?docid=155508.
The activities are based on different sound files and the well-known song from ABBA Mamma Mia!. The other sound files used in this lesson were created by myself, by using the Audacity software which can be downloaded online for free (http://audacity.sourceforge.net/download/ ). If you want to use my sound files, send me an email ([email protected]), and I can send them to you.
In order to include phonetic symbols in the worksheets, I had to use a special font: SILDoulosIPA_Regular.tff. You can find it easily online. Otherwise, send me an email!
Please let me know what you think about this lesson package. I hope you and your classes will enjoy it! ;-)
