Call My Bluff!
INSTRUCTIONS
This game can be played individually or in pairs. Students are given a card on which they will find an unusual English expression. They should read the definition and example sentence to make sure they understand the meaning of the word. If they still do not understand they can ask their teacher. Students should then write three definitions for the expression on a separate piece of paper. Two definitions are false. They should also rewrite the correct definition in their own words. They should then write three new example sentences one for each definition. Meanwhile the teacher monitors.
Finally, the students take turns reading their expression, definitions, and example sentences to the rest of the class. The other students have to guess which definition is correct. A point is given to each group that guesses correctly and should no group guess correctly the team presenting the expression are awarded 2 points.
