Reading classic Australian poetry and writing in response to it. Pre-reading questions on the Australian bush & outback, followed by two classic poems (in the public domain) and some exercises designed to scaffold students writing paragraphs on the texts. A sample (mixed-up) paragraph is presented- students number sentences to order. Guiding questions for analysis of the poem help students to identify points of contrast. Advanced level poetry analysis, but within reach for students. Answers and questions a little mixed up here- may require formatting before handing out to students.
