"The Lottery" Essay Assignment
After reading Shirley Jackson´s story "The Lottery" I assign my English 11 students this 5 paragraph response to literature essay. The first page consists of directions and requirements, and the second page is an essay checklist for students who might need extra support. The purpose of the assignment is to write a literary analysis of Jackson´s use of foreshadowing and irony throughout the text. Enjoy!
