Journal topics (speaking and writing)
The teacher and/or the students choose a topic from the list and write a short paragraph in their journals. The teacher and the students could focus on one grammar aspect per journal entry. For example, the students could highlight all the verbs in the past tense to help them apply the grammar rule learnt previously.
The topics could also be used as prompts for a group discussion. The teacher could select 5 to 10 topics per lesson. In teams of 4,each member must share their thoughts and opinions about the chosen topics and each member is encouraged to make a comment and/or ask a question to the other members of their team to energize the conversation.
