Preparing your trip to the UK
Here are a few ideas for helping your students prepare for a trip to the UK : a worksheet on how to learn regularly and build your vocab as you travel, a small table on the English pound system, some ice-breaker Qs to ask host families (not easy the first evening with a family!), etc. Hope its helpful!

Irregular Verbs by Phonetic similarity
This is my own version of the irregular verbs (most are given), but Ive divided them by phonetic similarity for easiness in learning. There is a fourth column which you can complete yourself with your students language translation if you wish.

Thanskgiving Day reading with exercises
A short comprehension text on Thanksgiving with several exercises. I use this also to develop and/or practice the pronunciation of the Regular Verbs in the Simple Past. Its always worked well with my students, and I hope it does with yours, too!

A letter to Cyber Santa
This is a fun poem on Christmas that I do with my 4th year English students (14 to 15-year-olds). The vocabulary is more interesting than just Christmas, and there are some useful grammar points that can be pulled out as well. A good activity for those last difficult hours before the holidays!

2015 Year in Review
A list of some major events of the year, with the verbs missing(simple past or past participle for the passive voice ones). I ask my students to first use logic to find the verbs themselves, and then they can ask me for the infinitive if they cant find the solution. Its a good way to go over the past tense and review last year as we enter into a ...

Here are two versions of the song : one is a fill-in-the-blanks version, the other is the text with some different words, so the exercises can bevaried in the class, if you want. There is also a copy of the original song. My classes enjoyed doing this as a team game, and I hope yours will, too!

Strange Fruit by B Holiday
This is the wonderful song "Strange Fruit" which Ive made with blanks for a listening comprehension exrcise I include in my theme on US Civil Rights. You can download the song on YouTube, or you can do it as a poem which students will read out to the class as a speaking/listening exrcise. In any case, its a haungtingly great song!

new mayor for London, S. Khan
Heres a short text about the new Mayor of London, S. Khan. Its on 2 pages : first is the full text + photo (3 times), second is the same text, but with blanks (again, 3 times). I plan to project the photo and discuss the man : who is he? what do they imagine, etc..., then read them the text. Then Ill project thetext with blanks and have students...
