Hi Lynne, As far as I am concerned I would say : IS FRENCH BECOMING MORE ENGLISHISED ?!!!! If you read Henriette Walter, a very good linguist, she will point out the fact that English and French are intermingling a lot. They have been for a long time yet. Let�s think of the word FLIRT for example ... It comes from the Old French expression "compter fleurette" which means "to express your love to a woman". This is only one example she talked about in one of her books. Take care of you all. Maryse. ;)  |

Hi Lynne, No no no "flirter" has nothing to do with "fleureter". The 1st is linked with couples whereas the 2nd is a sport. Do you know where the word "suspense" comes from ? An enormous chocolate cake for the one who is going to answer ! So who ? |
