Quantifying Flash Cards: "a few" and "a little"
Searched the net for "Quantifying Flash Cards" came up blank apart from some container cards, so I have designed my own and Im sharing this first lot with you. There are a few monkeys in the barrel. How many monkeys are in the barrel? A few. Whats in the barrel? A few monkeys. There is a little food on the table. How much is ...? and so on. I ...

Worksheets and reuploaded Learning Letters Ww and Xx: 8 worksheets
I was not sure about using the word "yacht" as it is not phonically regular, but it is the word in the textbook I am using. I still misspell the word occasionally. Children trace over the lower case and upper case letters, key words and simple sentences, read the words and sentences, then colour the worksheets. Very suitable for parents with young ...

Yy Picture Covers: An exercise in phonics with answer key and cumulative notes.
It was difficult to come up with vocabulary for this one, so it has a few nonsense words. It also has "Yank tank", which is Southern Hemisphere English, that speaks of old, solid, American cars. The chant is /y/, /y/. A yo-yo. (x2). While pretending to play with, or actually playing with, a yo-yo.

Physical descriptions: female
The question "What is she like?" can mean "What does she look like?" and/or "What is her character/personality like?", but students may give such answers as "She likes spaghetti." or "She likes dancing." To solve this problem I have created these cards. Now tell me about your girlfriend/mother.

Christmas Loopcards 1 (expanded and re-uploaded)
It is a domino type game except that the children must form a loop with the cards. You can print out a few sets and have children race to see which team wins first. If I do during a Christmas party, then I reward the children with chocolates. The original (re-uploaded) cards were designed for nonreaders and of course can be used in any language, th...

5 in a row phonic spinners 1 with scorecards and instructions
Let me describe it as a teacher led activity, though a student can take the part of the teacher or students can play in pairs or groups.
A student rolls a (large) dice and calls the number. "Four!" The teacher, out of direct sight of the students, takes a paper clip and pencil or chopstick and spins the clip around the pencil point in the /sh/ s...

3 pages of Phonic Fun with ir: worksheet, story and key (#12)
Hi,

The stories are classified as "decodable", but unlike many so called decodable stories these have over 90 percent decodable text as opposed to the 40- 60 percent found in most "phonic readers" I mix sentence fragments with grammatically correct sentences as fragments are often easier for beg...
