Most Fabulous Flashcard Fanclub is back!!!

Hi teachers,
by assumed popular demand (eg - I decided other people would want it back) I have restarted the Most Fabulous Flashcard Fanclub.

To be a member you just need to post an idea on how you use flashcards.

My new favourite:

Using familiar Flashcards to reinforce prior learning:

Have the students sort a pile of cards into 4 groups and give reasons why they are similar.
this has some hilarious results.

Cant wait to read your contributions.

Hug

Just uploaded a very simple introduction on how to use flash cards for matching and simple pelmanism.  Flash cards are low tech, easily made and can be used again and again.  I use them for beginners and advanced.

Computers may come and computers may go, but flashcards will go on forever!!!!!

Welcome any more original ideas how to use these useful little critters.

Enjoy

Hi Guys, I just wanted to share a funny flashcard experience I had with my mini kids. On Friday I had a jungle day. I put flashcards of animals and cuddly toys all around the room. The children made loo roll binoculars.. then we started our animal hunt. We started with the chant walking in the jungle and what can I see? I can see a snake looking at me (Ikea snake on the floor) We cant go around it, we cant go under it, we will have to jump OVER it. All the kids jump over the snake. The next animal was a tiger sitting on a desk. Same chant.. this time we have to go under it, all the kids crawl under the table. A bear on a chair... we have to go around it (a three year old told me you dont get bears in the jungle, so I had to say he was just visiting. he he) I went through lots of different animals.( crocodile elephant monkey etc..) The last item on the list was a bridge we had to cross to get home. A row of chairs, each chair with a flashcard of an animal on it. The children walked across the bridge one at a time (holding my hand of course) and they could only cross the bridge if they said the names of the animals as they went. Boy!! you have no idea how fast those little kids suddenly knew all the vocabulary. he he
Anyway I had such a lovely lesson that I wanted to share it with you. If there are any other crazy teachers out there who like to go crawling around the classroom then this may be a good idea for you. he heClown

Thanks for all your lovely ideas.

Hugs Yeti xxxx
