I am now, after more than 5 decades in the work force, officially semi-retired. New hobby: gardening. Old hobby restarting: table tennis. I still have some classes to teach and materials to design, many of which I will continue to share with the dear members of ESLPs. You may come across my materials on Facebook and my blog.

Plurals to Singular Crossword 2 with keys.
After noticing that most worksheets move from the singular to the plural, I decided to reverse the situation. Children are encouraged to write the plurals first and then the singular. This one is slightly more difficult than the first.

3 pages of Phonic Comics with ur: worksheet, comic dialogue and key (#29)
Hi, There are 3 of my worksheets today. As I said, the format has been changed. I had a very good reaction to this "comic" format from my friends and now I would like some feedback from other teachers. Notice the small picture on the top right hand side of the dialogues, this tells the teacher, and the students, what the target sound/spelling i...

Mini Book 14: Hunting in colour and greyscale
I wish I could do more but other work has priority right now, sorry. I have reformatted this 2005 story to make a suitable for a mini book. This story uses only single letter sounds, so early readers and dyslexics should have little difficulty in reading it. Irony or poetic justice is introduced on page 6, hopefully your young students will see th...

The tasks, not necessarily in this order, are: Complete the sentences with the appropriate verb, give each picture its correct number, give each boy a name and complete the crossword. Now use the cro...

5 in a row phonic spinners 1 with scorecards and instructions
Let me describe it as a teacher led activity, though a student can take the part of the teacher or students can play in pairs or groups. A student rolls a (large) dice and calls the number. "Four!" The teacher, out of direct sight of the students, takes a paper clip and pencil or chopstick and spins the clip around the pencil point in the /sh/ s...

Marva Collins Phoneme Cards 29-32 of many
After watching The Marva Collins Story on Youtube and seeing some interesting posters on her classroom wall I designed these cards which can be used as game cards, flashcards and posters. The reason I think these are also useful for older students is that it allows them to gain an insight into spelling and phonics and through that the confidence to...

3 pages of Phonic Comics with oi: worksheet, comic dialogue and key (#33)
Hi, This "Disaster Report" dialogue is topical and I wonder if the oilmen in the Gulf of Mexico will come up with a better excuse, Unfortunately soap and water will not always do the trick (solve the problem). I am coming to the end of this series. I do have quite a few more stories, which only use the basic 26 alphabet sounds, but I donLt plan o...
